Okay, on the 31st, I got to Negril, but spent two nights at Willowgate, owned by the same people as Hilltop Paradise when I moved in because their card machine to swipe mine was not working, and they would only take cash, had maxed out for the day, and they wouldn't let me move in until I paid the cash and since it was New Years day and a holiday the 1st had to wait until the 2nd. Okay, I guess the lady had been burned and I understood her reasons..when she said on the phone (she lives in New York) that I could stay at Willowgate until I paid at first I balked because I thought she meant at the regular room rate, and said I would rather go to DeBar that has rooms at $25 a night if it came to that, but then it was explained to me that they meant at no charge, so I did that.
I had hot water those two nights. And not one moment since. I have not had ANY WATER AT ALL for days on end, and for most days, only a mere trickle coming at the wee hours like four am to eight am, which I have been using to fill up two liter bottles of soda to pour over my head to rinse off after soaping off because the shower is a mere trickle.
THIS HAS BEEN GOING ON EVERY SINCE THE DAY I MOVED IN!!! NO WATER!!!
And it's NOT the city!!! See, they have a water tank out front that they got filled a week after I got here. They have a water tank on the roof. The first day I had normal water..then the water pump broke..so it's not a CITY ISSUE OR A DROUGHT ISSUE I HAVE GONE TWENTY FOUR FREAKING DAYS WITH NO WATER BECAUSE ONLY TONIGHT ARE THEY FINALLY ( I'VE BEEN TOLD, I'M AT DEBAR AND NOT THERE TO SEE) PUTTING THE FIXED WATER PUMP IN!!!!!!!1
SOOOOOOOOOOOOO...I thought about this long and hard and did a lot of soul searching..and then the other day I ran across a poster here (not sure if she would want me to say who so won't) and she gave me some great words of encouragement about some things that I really needed to hear.
I'm a nice person, and I'm a reasonable person, and yes, I like to kid myself that I'm a kind one at times, but please don't mistake that kindness for weakness.
I hand wrote a letter explaining that I had been patient and reasonable and thought it was only fair to ask for a hundred dollars off of next month's rent for my inconienience, and that I could pay the entire amount of course, but that if I did have to do so that I would consider all my options accordingly.
Well, I was brief when I gave the letter to the owner's daughter who run's the place, and just said what I was asking for,and she wanted me to stay and talk but I left. Then she called me at DeBar last night a few hours later to talk to me, but I stood firm, either a hundred dollars off of next month's rent, or I would have to explore my other options. At the time I talked to her on the phone, I had already scoped out and found another place to move into in March.
So shortly after I get a call from the owner in New York and she explained in great detail what the water issue was and why it had taken so long and I said I understood that but that I still wanted to be compensatd for having put up with it for so long, or would see what else I could come up with. She pressed me, and I wanted to stay polite, but in the end, I just told her that fine if she couldn't be reasonable, then I would pay February's rent, and would be giving my thirty notice then and moving out in March. Then I said goodnight and hung up before I said anything nasty, lol.
So I already had a place lined up, but then I found THE PLACE!!! THE PERFECT PLACE!1! WITH A POOL AND AC AND WIFI AND OCEAN ACCESS AND I'M MOVING TO WESTENDER IN MARCH. :D
