One thing re: tobacco -- I can see through your prior posts you like your herb (as do I) -- if cigs get too expensive consider rolling your spliffs in tobacco leafs. That will satisfy your craving for tobacco (if you ever get desparate)!
Using your own kitchen for food will save you a bunch of money. I always bring three or four blocks of cheese, three or four loaves of bread in tupperware. When I was really young and would be in Jamaica for years at a time, I had a menu developed so I wouldn't spend so much money on eating on a daily basis. Eggs - pretty cheap and can go a long way, a decent "fixed at home" breakfast... huge amount of lime trees all over, lots of home made lime juice, a little bit of sugar - also dinners of tomatoe and cheese sandwiches, tuna fish sandwiches, we also regularly cooked this stuffed cabbage dish, just cabbage with cut up scallions, a tomatoe, rice, little bit of kidey beans, almonds from our tree..
Also we cooked quite a bit of chicken soup -- it always used to gross me out -- the amount of feathers left in the bird when I bought it.
