It was around 15 or 20 minutes. We hooked him very close to the boat, maybe 20 ft away. Good fight though, got him on a "lighter" gear set-up than the usual heavy weight deep sea equipment. My wife has the last 8 minutes on video. Lots of above water headshakes.
I had mixed feelings about killing it but the captain assured me it wouldn't go to waste, which it didn't. In fact we were invited to a huge fish fry under the new pier that a bunch of the boat captains put on for each other.
I also caught a Jack Cravelle around 20-25lbs and it probably took at least 20 minutes to bring in. I was actually surprised by how big it wasn't when we finally got it to the surface.
