When I'm "bitching" I'm bitching on behalf of people living in my neighborhoods - not tourists in hotels because especially now hotels are buying water and storage and pumps. I was just getting friends settled at Catcha Gardens and because they are set up well and keep their supply up (trucked in cause they are getting nothing from the pipe) you'd never know there was a water issue.
My neighbors always have containers and bottles filled as part of their emergency kits for hurricanes. Also, these types of outages generally do not start until February so some or most fell short of their needs. We've had barely any water since I arrived in November...very low pressure and it started to stop and go through Christmas - like I said after New Years Eve, finish.
"Looks like they have a system, water seems to come back on around 4/5 pm and goes off around 9 am."
Well, if this is indeed what they are doing its not reaching the lighthouse and beyond. No one I know has had any running water around here since yesterday morning and that was only for a few hours.
The "system" they first put in place at the beginning of January was that the west end would get water on Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays after 7:00pm. So that's 15 hours of running water. The beach - no lock-off.
And yes it is and has been an island-wide problem for a good amount of time...the folks we stayed with in Long Bay though said they never have water issues - that's because the rainfall on that end of the island is significantly higher than in the West and South.
