Jeannie - I know, it really sticks out when you pass from the sea.
I gave the group 3-4 different options and this is what they chose. I have always wanted to stay there, and I like Billys Bay, but I'd have also been happy in an area closer to "town" (such as it is). We looked at Mar Blue (the verandah villas can be rented as one villa with cook for surprisingly little money) and Doubloon. The group's only requirement was AC bedrooms - direct beach access and pool nice but optional. There are 8 of us so we needed 4 BRs.
I stayed nearby with another group a few years ago so know that beach...it's the "standard" TB bay - fishing boats "park" on one end, there is a little bar right there that I have spent time at, then the rest of the beach is kind of wild and undeveloped, nice swimming at certain points. Fishermen come in with their catches in the afternoon/evening. I hear there's a cookshop in the area.
I'll probably rent a scooter for a few days, TB is nice for that as there is little traffic.
One of the group really wants to go to Milk River baths, so I think we'll do a day of that with Gut RIver (on my bucket list for ages) and Little Ochi, maybe even visit the manatees again.
We haven't booked it all yet but I am already excited :)
